ACMS students are postgraduates; Honours, Master’s, and PhD candidates who are building their research careers in migration studies and intersecting fields (public health, sociology, geography, gender studies, law, urban planning, and more). They are supervised by ACMS faculty and affiliated researchers. Many are also embedded in our thematic teams and undertake original research tied to active projects and field sites across Southern, Western, and Eastern Africa. Students at ACMS engage in rigorous research methods design and training; receive close supervision; take part in ethics, fieldwork preparation and writing workshops; get opportunities to publish, present, and collaborate with partners; and participate in working groups and seminars. Our students often contribute to policy briefs, data visualisation, and public-facing outputs alongside journal publications. We also welcome practitioners transitioning into research and scholars aiming for engaged, impact-oriented careers.
