Buermle Suomi Puplampu

PhD

Buermle Suomi Puplampu is a first-year PhD student at ACMS. She holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc.) in Environment and Development Studies and a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Migration Studies from Central University, Ghana and the University of Ghana, respectively. Her doctoral research centres on migrant placemaking in fluid urban areas. Using a mixed-methods approach, her research broadly explores how migrant placemaking – through belonging, adaptation, economic activity and civic life – consciously and unconsciously, creates and transforms urban spaces in Accra, Ghana, amidst the city’s diversity and hyper-fluidity. Her research interests include transnationalism, acculturation, placemaking, sustainable development and urbanisation.
