Patrick Eyul

PhD

Patrick Eyul is a social scientist with over 10 years of experience in public health research, programme management, and applied social science. His work focuses on the intersection of population mobility, migration, and health, with particular emphasis on HIV/AIDS, sexual and reproductive health, and health systems strengthening. He has extensive experience in both qualitative and quantitative research methods, including longitudinal cohort studies, multi-site project coordination, and translating research evidence into policy and practice.

Patrick is currently a PhD candidate in Migration and Displacement at the African Centre for Migration & Society (ACMS), University of the Witwatersrand. He holds a Master of Science (MSc) in International Health Policy and Management from the Heller School, Brandeis University (USA), as well as a Master of Art (MA) in Social Sector Planning and Management, and an Honours Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Social Sciences (Sociology), both from Makerere University (Uganda).

Over the course of his career, Patrick has led and coordinated large multidisciplinary research programmes across Eastern Africa and beyond, including multi-country studies funded by the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH). His doctoral research, nested within the Nurture4Youth project, examines how mobility, intersectionality, and stigma shape differential experiences and coping strategies in accessing sexual and reproductive health services among mobile adolescents and young people in KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa).
