Last night, President Ramaphosa devoted a prime-time national address to immigration and xenophobia. Last night, he once again misled.

“Faced with the consequences of their own failures, governments point outward, toward a scapegoat, a vilified other. Nigel Farage. Donald Trump. D.F. Malan. Idi Amin. Ramaphosa is in good company.”
