The African Centre for Migration & Society (ACMS) at the University of the Witwatersrand is seeking a part-time Research Intern to join the Xenowatch Project.

Position Details:

• Duration: 6 months (1 July – 31 December 2026)
• Remuneration: R10,000 per month
• Location: Johannesburg
• Deadline: 17 June 2026

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor media and social media for xenophobic discrimination incidents
• Verify reports and maintain the incident database
• Engage with partner organisations across the country
• Support the Project Coordinator with Xenowatch activities

Requirements:

• Honours degree in Migration or relevant Social Science discipline
• Familiarity with migration and xenophobia research
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
