ARUA Early Career Research Fellowships Open

Want to visit the African Centre for Migration & Society (ACMS), at the University of the Witwatersrand (South Africa), as a research fellow?

The second round of the African Research Universities Alliance (ARUA) Early Career Research Fellowships is currently open until 15 July 2026. The fellowship program is funding up to forty-two (42) early-career researchers to conduct globally competitive research at host and affiliated institutions of ARUA’s thirteen (13) Centres of Excellence (CoEs), and the twenty-two (22) Africa-Europe Clusters of Excellence (CoREs). The ACMS is the ARUA Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Migration and Mobility.

Each fellowship lasts six months, with the next commencing this September 2026 and ending in February 2027.

At least 70% of the fellowships are reserved for female candidates, and applicants must be no older than 35 years at the time of application.
