Last week, 3-5 February, ACMS welcomed its new cohort of 2026 students to our postgraduate programmes in Migration & Displacement Studies. On the first day of orientation at the Centre, the students met the ACMS staff and learned about the diverse research projects they are involved in. We explored key themes from migration and health to gender, citizenship, and socio-spatial research. Our discussions reinforced ACMS’s commitment to bridging scholarship with ethical, justice-oriented practice, using methods from ethnography and policy analysis to oral history and the arts. The orientation highlighted our role as Africa’s leading hub for interdisciplinary research on migration, displacement, and justice.
