Neusa Torres

Postdoctoral Fellow

Neusa Torres, PhD, is a public health scholar whose work bridges the social sciences and public health to examine the complex social and behavioural dimensions of health systems. She holds a Doctorate in Public Health from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, as well as an Honours degree in Social Sciences, a Bachelor’s in Anthropology, and a Master’s in Public Health from Eduardo Mondlane University.

Her research focuses on understanding how social structures, cultural norms, and individual experiences shape health-seeking behaviour and access to care. She has extensive experience in qualitative and qualitative longitudinal research, as well as evidence synthesis methods applied to public health inquiry.

Neusa’s scholarly interests lie at the intersection of public health and the socio-behavioural sciences, with a particular focus on women’s and children’s health, medicine use, migration health, and the social interactions with healthcare practices. Her work aims to generate contextually grounded evidence that informs equitable health policies and interventions.
