Langelihle Mlotshwa is a public health researcher with experience in leading and contributing to multidisciplinary research projects across Southern Africa and beyond. She holds a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Basel, Switzerland and a Masters in Public Health from Wits University, South Africa. Her current work focuses on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), young people’s health and well-being, and the intersections of migration, mobility, and urbanisation. Her interests lie in understanding how patterns of internal and cross-border migration influence access to SRHR services and how structural and social determinants shape the health outcomes of young people on the move.
Over the course of her career, she has designed and implemented qualitative studies, working in collaboration with academic institutions, civil society organisations, and international partners. Dr Mlotshwa’s work aims to generate evidence that not only advances academic debates but also informs health policy, service provision, and programming. She is committed to research that amplifies the perspectives of young people, strengthens equity in health systems, and responds to the complex realities of marginalised and mobile populations.
