Dr Marlise Richter completed a PhD in public health at the International Centre for Reproductive Health at the University of Ghent (Belgium) on sex worker access to health care services in South Africa and Kenya. She has worked as a researcher for Project Literacy, the AIDS Law Project, the Treatment Action Campaign, Sonke Gender Justice and the Health Justice Initiative, while she has also held positions at various universities.
Dr Richter is currently a visiting researcher at the School of Public Health, University of Cape Town and at the African Centre for Migration & Society, Wits University. Her research and advocacy focus on health, feminism and human rights, with a particular focus on Key Populations and rights-based approaches to health care.
