Balkissa Daouda Diallo

Balkissa Daouda Diallo is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the African Centre for Migration and Society (ACMS). Her research focuses on African migrations and governance. She explores how international migration politics influence regional/domestic migration/mobility governance, informal governance, and the informality and precarity of mobility. She is also interested in structure-agency approaches to those on the move, and how belonging and identity influence migratory trends, migrants-host society relationships and gender dynamics in Africa.

She holds a Ph.D. in Global Governance and Human Security and an M.A. in Conflict Resolution from the University of Massachusetts Boston (UMass Boston). She also holds an M.A. in International Development and an M.Sc. in Environmental Studies from Ohio University. She earned a B.A. in Political Science and History at the University of Ghana, Legon. She is a Fulbright alumna (Ohio, 2015-2017), and a past fellow and a member of the UMass Boston SSRC program, the West African Research Association (WARA), and the African Studies Association (ASA).
