Alexandra Hiropoulos is an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice at California State University Stanislaus and an affiliate of the African Centre for Migration and Society (ACMS) at the University of the Witwatersrand. She was previously a post-doctoral research fellow at the ACMS, during which time she co-developed and launched Xenowatch, a national crowd-sourcing platform to monitor xenophobic violence and threats across South Africa. She has a PhD in Criminal Justice from the City University of New York (CUNY) Graduate Center and her research predominantly focuses on migration, xenophobic violence and policing.
