Grace is a Ph.D. student at the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa. Grace has 10 years’ experience working with urban refugees in Kenya. Grace is passionate about gender, economic empowerment, and how migration affects gender equality for displaced women and girls. Grace is a graduate of the Catholic University of Eastern Africa with a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts and Social Sciences; Majoring in Sociology and a Minor in Political Science and a Masters of Science Degree in Governance, Peace, and Security from the African Nazarene University in Nairobi. Grace is a 2017 Next Generation Fellow at the Women in International Security (WIIS) and a United States Institute of Peace (USIP) 2016 Generation Change fellow. She is Missing Peace Scholar, a collaboration of USIP, WIIS, Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO), and the Center for Human Rights, Gender and Migration, the University of Washington in St Louis. Her doctoral research investigates the effects of wartime sexual violence on the reproductive health of South Sudanese refugee women.
