Oncemore holds a BA in Social Work and Masters of Arts in Psychology Research and Coursework and is currently enrolled for a PhD at the African Centre for Migration & Society (ACMS), at the University of Witwatersrand. His research interests are in; migration and sexual health, and migrants’ strength to survive in the foreign places they find themselves.

Oncemore’s PhD research explores how migration determines sexual decisions of young migrant men living in Johannesburg’s inner-city. Since 2018, he has supervised Honours research students in the Social Work Department, University of the Witwatersrand. His students’ research projects focused on migration; the challenges that migrants face in Johannesburg (South Africa), and how they cope.

Oncemore also participates in monthly forum meetings with organisations whose work focuses on psychologically, socially and economically supporting both migrants and South Africans living in and around Johannesburg. Over these few years Oncemore’s research interests on migrants in South Africa has continued to increase. His pragmatic position on research concerning migrants attempts to bring more attention and interventions’ towards an understanding of migrants not as victims in South Africa, but people with strength.
