Caitlin Blaser

Caitlin Blaser Mapitsa is an American national. Her PhD thesis is titled Governing for inclusion:local government, mobility, and community creation. The thesis explores how municipal authorities in five South African communities are responding to migration. Themes include how administration facilitates or undermines participation, how decentralised planning takes place in a context of migration, and what role municipal authorities play in building social cohesion. Caitlin  is currently a senior lecturer in monitoring and evaluation at the Wits School of Governance. She has 15 years of experience as an evaluator, working to understand what drives change in complex socioecological systems, and how to measure these changes. Her current research interests are around transboundary resource management, and how evaluation can support changes in governance.
